The City of Chicago celebrates the best of today’s international music at the 12th annual World Music Festival this September. The city-wide, multi-venue, week-long festival has attracted over half million concertgoers and has presented more than 500 artists and ensembles from over 75 countries since it began in 1999.
This year, the opening event is by world famous percussionist, Zakir Hussain in Millennium Park. And on Thursday, Sep 23rd, Ajanta will
offer Bhangra lessons at Randolph Cafe in Chicago Cultural Center.
A wonderful community event with a massive turnout. The event included singing and dance competitions, delicious Indian food and vendors
offering beautiful merchandise.
Ajanta was invited to be on the judging panel for various Bollywood dance competitions.
This was one of the most fun Chicago events! The event showcased talented musicians and DJs. The Bollywood session was scheduled for 20 mins, The theme was "My Big Fat Indian Wedding".
The "groom" arrived decked up in traditional Indian clothes and the bride was chosen right from the crowd!
This was followed by Ajanta teaching the crowd the typical Indian wedding dance moves. Armed with the moves, the crowd then joined in
a traditional Indian wedding procession through the streets of Chicago with the bride and groom dancing right on the rickshaw!
BollyRitmo participated in LearnaPalooza event which was held in Chicago's Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood. The Bollywood session was one of the highlights of the event as described Chicago Now's
"It's Awesome" blog.
The session was heavily attended and instructor Ajanta led the participants through 7-Steps-Of-Bollywood. Check out the pictures!
